Boundaries

Fixed-Geometry Boundaries
The spillway and obstacles do not change shape during the simulation. The component of water velocity perpendicular to these surfaces must be zero at all times.

The velocity of the water is assumed constant at the inflow boundary. The water level is initially an estimate; water adjusts to a proper height as the simulation progresses.

Partially Deformable Boundaries
The left, right and outflow boundaries are allowed to change shape to accommodate the waves that form as the simulation proceeds. However, these boundaries remain vertical and may not bulge in or out.

Free Surface
This surface is allowed to rise, fall and change concavity as the motion of the water dictates.
